Have you ever argued with someone for some time only to find that you both agree and were essentially saying the same thing? Ever regretted saying something that you didn’t really mean, or kicked yourself for not saying something you really needed to say? What is it that makes real communication so difficult?
From childhood, we have been taught to listen, wait, make our point, maybe even persuade others. But the problem is that we usually speak to each other through our programming and conditioning. We’ve never been taught to communicate from our inner being. This leaves us misunderstood, and lonely.
Authentic communication involves more than the points we have a vested interest to convey. It involves consciously using our thoughts, feelings, and instincts to express our truth to another human being. Learning this skill benefits every area of life including intimate relationships, leadership, and professional life.
In this workshop, you will begin to open the doors of communication between you and those around you, whether in personal or professional relationships. You will learn how to connect with yourself as a prerequisite to connecting with others, and look at your own most common difficulties in expressing yourself. Join Junod Etienne and Deanna Smith in a discussion on how to experience deeper levels of contact and intimacy with the people in your life.
